Mathew Knowles Sues Tabloid

Music World owner Mathew Knowles, plans to take a British tabloid to court after it printed what he called a mispresentation of his relationship with Beyonce and Blue Ivy.

He is suiting up for a fight now that he's dropped a bombshell lawsuit on THE SUN, a UK tabloid for "knowingly and maliciously misrepresented his relationship with his daughter, Beyoncé, and with his granddaughter."

The interview which was printed in The Sun, painted the relationship between Beyonce and Mathew as "tense" and even insinuated that he had not met his granddaughter Blue Ivy.
New findings however reveal that Mathew had indeed met Blue Ivy once Bey's HBO documentary, Life Is But A Dream aired and now, Mathew is suing for unspecified damages, defamation and breach of contract. In a statement to E! News he said,
"My daughters and my family mean the world to me," he said. "The barrage of repeated falsehoods spawned by the British Sun's defamatory article has been exhausting and personally damaging to me. No matter how many papers it sells or web hits it generates, The Sun, like any newspaper, needs to maintain a basic level of journalistic integrity. The Sun crossed the line when it went after my family. The Sun needs to be held responsible for its lies in a court of law. This happens too often to too many people, and it is simply unfair."

Barack Obama is known for keeping a cool head when the temperature rises around him, but this is one situation that's getting the better of him.
The US President recently visited Germany where he was speaking at Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, near the spot where JFK made his famous speech nearly 50 years ago - and it appeared the German capital was in the middle of a heatwave as Mr Obama could not stop the perspiration streaming from his head.

Here are pictures of Barack Obama sweating his Presidential socks off....

Idris Elba To Play Mandela In New Movie

Earlier this week, British actor Idris Elba was spotted in New York City for a new sci-fi, robot flick titled “Pacific Rim.”
According to London’s Independent, Idris, who is currently in his prime as the star of the BBC1 series Luther, is set to play the Next James Bond (which he denies) and an upcoming role as Nelson Mandela.

During a recent sit-down, he dished on the Nelson Mandela role being one of his most challenging jobs yet, brushed off the James Bond rumours and revealed whether he considers himself to be a role model.

See Highlights:

On playing Nelson Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom: "To call the prospect of playing Nelson Mandela intimidating would be to put it lightly. But it’s a massive honour to play this saint amongst men. I was honestly confused about why they came to me. I thought, ‘You can’t be serious! You chose me out of everyone you could have gone to?’ Then I found out that Nelson Mandela was into The Wire. I thought, ‘It’s amazing – he might have kicked back and watched the Wire box set!’ The role was definitely the biggest challenge of my life. I look and sound nothing like the man – but hopefully I’ve pulled it off.”

On playing the next James Bond:
It’s just a rumour. But what a compliment that my name has been attached to that role! Of course, it’s not my job – it’s very much Daniel Craig’s – but I’m flattered by the notion of it. I’m also encouraged that audiences are being more colour-blind these days. If people are associating me with such a job, I think that’s great.

On if he considers himself a role model:
I’d like to think so – not necessarily by giving talks, but by my actions. I’d also like to think that people from outside my community could take inspiration from what I’ve done. I’m very satisfied with how things have gone. Ten years ago, I’d never have imagined doing all this.
Yesterday I was called a ‘cultural icon’. How did I react to that? I laughed loudly and said, ‘What?’

Dutch City Council Erroneously Pronounces Nelson Mandela Dead, However He's Not Dead.

The city council of an Amsterdam neighborhood observed a minute of silence to mark the death of South African icon Nelson Mandela on Tuesday.

Report Huffington Post Online
Mandela, however, is not dead.
Dutch broadcaster NOS reported that members of the council of Southeast Amsterdam concluded based on Facebook messages that Mandela had passed away Tuesday evening.

“Mart van de Wiel of the D66/OZO fraction told us during the pause that his hero had died,” clerk Sjam Jokhan told Dutch newspaper Het Parool. “I tried to verify the report,” he added. “I found dozens of messages on Twitter that seemed to confirm the news, includuing messages like breaking news and it’s official.”

The council decided to hold a minute of silence honoring South Africa’s former president. However, council members quickly learned of their mistake.
Clerk Jokhan adds: “It shows again how careful you have to be with reports on the internet.”

The Dutch council members were not the only ones to jump the gun on Mandela’s death, however. Pop star Rihanna tweeted her condolences on Tuesday, saying “Nelson Mandela… one of the most incredible men to ever walk this earth!!! Sending prayers up to the Heavens for you.”

Anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela was admitted to a South African hospital on June 8 with a lung infection. His condition has been described as “critical,” and members of the Mandela family and tribal leaders gathered in the former president’s hometown on Tuesday to discuss Madiba’s situation.

Davido Was Not Arrested in Hungary for Spending Fake Currency

Yesterday, an unconfirmed story was making its rounds across blogs that Davido, his brother – Adewale Adeleke and his manager Kamal Ajiboye were arrested in a club in Budapest for using fake euros to pay for drinks.
Davido‘s camp has sent across an official press release clearly stating Davido didn’t get arrested.

Official Press Release:
"It has come to our notice that some unscrupulous rumour peddlers have chosen to malign Davido’s hard work ethic and reputation.

Davido has been on his European tour for a few weeks and landed in Budapest, Hungary on Friday June 21 for his Budapest stop. He was met with what is perhaps the worst case of unprofessionalism from a promoter in his career as a touring artiste. The promoter in this case is known as Mr Frank of BLACK DIAMOND ENTERTAINMENT. To the dismay of his management, the agreements on Davido’s ryder were not met despite assurances written and verbal that everything was set".

Please note the following facts:
Against their agreement, Davido and his management were given a one bedroom suite to house them during their stay in Budapest.

The promoter had issues with the venue for the show. Up until the night of the performance, the venue had not been paid for and Davido’s management were informed that he might not be able to perform on the stage. This was finally sorted a few minutes to the show.

When it was finally time to perform, the promoter had not arranged for sound and Davido only managed the situation and decided to perform because of his fans that had paid to attend the concert.

A fight broke out at the club and the promoters did not arrange any form of security for Davido, it was the intervention of the venue security guards that ensured that he got back to his hotel room in safety.

Davido and his management did not receive any direct payments from the said promoter. Infact the promoter is yet to pay up in full Davido’s performance fees as agreed.

Davido and his management team catered to their every need while in Budapest from their personal funds.

Davido’s management wishes to state distinctly and clearly that Davido was not at any point arrested in Budapest, Hungary. He is currently in Paris, France where he is set to perform on the 28th and the 29th of June.

Beyoncé, Lady Gaga & Oprah lead Forbes’ Celebrity 100

Oprah Winfrey is back on her throne at the top of Forbes’ list of the world’s most powerful celebrities, after a two-year stint in the runner-up seat.

The billionaire American talk-show host, 59, knocked singer Jennifer Lopez off the spot and into number 12, but still shares the top ten winners’ enclosure arena with a multitude of women.
There are six girls in the plum positions – and the only man to make it into the top five is film director Steven Spielberg, who, coming third, is sandwiched between Lady Gaga in second and Beyonce in fourth.

Winfrey was top of the list in 2010, but lost out to Jennifer Lopez last year and Lady Gaga in 2011.
Singer and actress Madonna comes fifth and Taylor Swift makes her top 10 debut at number six in the annual Top 100 compiled by the financial magazine, which is based on income over a 12-month period and fame, as defined by a media presence across all platforms, as well as social media power.

Forbes calculated celebrity’s earnings on income from tours, books, contracts, endorsements, movies and residuals and each star was given a marketability score, created by California market research firm E-Poll.
Forbes credits Oprah’s $77 million (£50m) earnings between June 2012 and June 2013 – as well as her prominence on TV, on social media and in the press – for her placing.

Gaga, despite being forced to cancel numerous dates on her moneymaking ‘Born This Way Ball’ tour due to hip surgery earlier this year, earned $80 million from the global jaunt.
Forbes writer Dorothy Pomerantz said: ‘She still wields an enormous amount of power, which is really what we look for in our fame matrix. Forbes also cites the lady gaga's star’s devoted fan following on social media for her lofty ranking.
Pomerantz said again: ‘She is still a huge force in pop music. Even when she is not playing, people are talking about her and speculating about her.’

Winfrey, who has topped the list on four previous occasions, is one of three celebrities who have featured on the prestigious list every year since its inception in 1999, along with radio DJ Howard Stern and director Steven Spielberg.. ‘She is taking this cable network and turning it around just through the sheer force of her will, her connections and her ability.’
Buy she wasn’t the highest earning star over the last year. Madonna earned $125 million (£81m) between June 2012 and June 2013.

Singer Beyonce came fourth on the list, just below Steven Spielberg but above Madonna.

Director Steven Spielberg, is the only man to make the top five, while singer Taylor Swift, right, makes a Top 10 debut at number six
Last year’s number one, Jennifer Lopez – who topped the chart thanks to her public profile and earnings of $52 million – drops to 12 on this year’s countdown.

Forbes also deciphered how often individual stars appeared in the media and used Starcount – a Singapore-based company that studies celebrity’s presence on 11 different social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, to assess popularity and influence.

Madonna, shot up to number five, having not made the top 100 last year, while Jennifer Lopez, right, drops from the  top spot on last year’s list to number 12 (but she still made $45m, so she probably isn’t too worried).

Justin Bieber manages to hold onto his place in the top ten, coming in at number nine.

2013 FORBES’ CELEBRITY TOP 20:
1 Oprah Winfrey $77m (income this year)
2 Lady Gaga $80m
3 Steven Spielberg $100m
4 Beyonce $53m
5 Madonna $125m
6 Taylor Swift $55m
7 Jon Bon Jovi $79m
8 Roger Federer $71m
9 Justin Bieber $58m
10 Ellen DeGeneres $56m
11 Hugh Jackman $55m
12 Jennifer Lopez $45m
13 Rihanna $43m
14 Coldplay $64m
15 Tiger Woods $78m
16 LeBron James $60m
17 Simon Cowell $95m
18 Katy Perry $39m
19 David Beckham $47m
20 Robert Downey Jnr $75m
