Sony Pictures and Marvel Entertainment have launched their publicity blitz for 2014's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" at this year's Con, and with that comes our first chance to see and hear Jamie Foxx as Electro.

The 39 second clip begins with ominous tracking shots through a high-tech lab as a deep and distorted, robotic voice declares, "I can feel it in the walls … I can feel it in my veins … no matter what you do, Doc, you can't tame it …" The clip then cuts to Foxx, head shaved and skin looking a strange pink-and-blue as he's hooked up to various gizmos giving off plenty of sparks. He stares into the camera with blank, sinister eyes, until finally a title card fills the screen: "Electro Arrives, July 19, Hall H, 4:00 p.m."

Up until now, Foxx has focused his film career on comedy and action — playing the good guy. But Electro is his first full-on villain role. And judging from the menace in his voice and the grimace on his face, he's ready to go bad all the way.

Felicity Jones, whose "Spider-Man 2" role is supposedly top secret, can forget that second career with the CIA. She keeps blabbing Spidey news. Jones just revealed the Green Goblin (presumably Chris Cooper's Norman Osbourne) will appear in the sequel and — get this — that she is his girlfriend. Yup, this one's going to be jam packed with villains.

In an interview with the British entertainment site View London, Jones, who is promoting the new indie drama "Breathe In," mentioned the Spidey spoiler in passing: "It"s all quite shrouded in secrecy, but I’m the Goblin’s girlfriend — I'm in a relationship with him, and his accomplice. I'm on the dark side."

The statement sounds harmless enough, except that neither Marvel nor Sony has yet revealed that the Green Goblin would be part of the picture's lineup of villains.
